8/23/2017 Max Tuerk, LAC, C
Tuerk has been suspended the first four games of the regular season without pay for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Analysis: Drafted in the third round last year as the possible center of the future for the Chargers, Tuerk was a healthy scratch for all 16 games in 2016 coming off a right knee injury that cut short his final season at USC.
8/23/2017 Jaelen Strong, Hou, WR
Strong is appealing his one-game suspension for an arrest on a marijuana possession charge.

Analysis: Strong was arrested on Feb. 28 of last year by Scottsdale police after a routine traffic stop. He was one of two passengers in a car driven by Green Bay cornerback Damarious Randall, a former teammate at Arizona State. Strong gave police a cigar box with three marijuana cigarettes. He later agreed to enter a drug diversion program and undergo counseling to get the charge dropped.
8/23/2017 Tank Carder, Cle, LB
Carder will miss the season after tearing his ACL.

Analysis: Carder made only two starts in his first five seasons, sticking with the team as a core special teams player. But when the Browns traded Demario Davis to the Jets in June, they gave Carder a chance to win the job.
8/23/2017 DeShone Kizer, Cle, QB
The Browns seem to be giving their starting quarterback job to Kizer after previously leaning toward veteran Brock Osweiler.

Analysis: Kizer will start the team's third preseason game, Saturday against Tampa Bay, and coach Hue Jackson said the rookie "is certainly positioning himself well to earn the starting job heading into the regular season." It's the Notre Dame product's job to lose at this point, so grab him for your two-quarterback leagues.
8/22/2017 Dont'a Hightower, NE, LB
The Patriots have activated Hightower from the physically unable to perform list.

Analysis: A defensive captain, Hightower had been nursing an undisclosed physical ailment that kept him off the field in voluntary spring practices. He had been wearing a brace over his right knee during the start of training camp. Hightower signed a four-year contract extension this offseason with a base value of $35.5 million and more than $17 million in guaranteed money.
8/22/2017 Deone Bucannon, Ari, LB
The Cardinals activated Bucannon from the physically unable to perform list on Tuesday.

Analysis: Bucannon underwent surgery on his right ankle in May on the heels of missing the final three games of the regular season. The 24-year-old Bucannon had 91 tackles in 13 games last season. He has posted more than 80 tackles in each of his three NFL seasons and has five sacks, four fumble recoveries and one interception.
8/22/2017 Brandon Marshall, NYG, WR
Marshall (shoulder) underwent X-rays after exiting in the third quarter of the Giants' 10-6 loss to the Browns on Monday.

Analysis: He caught one pass for two yards. The team doesn't believe it's a serious injury, but keep an eye on the results of the X-ray.
8/22/2017 Cody Kessler, Cle, QB
Kessler appears to be the third man in the Browns' starting QB derby, but he went 7 for 7 for 50 yards in the Browns' 10-6 win over the Giants on Monday.

Analysis: There's still a possibility Kessler could get playing time this season, but he's not a great option even if he does.
8/22/2017 DeShone Kizer, Cle, QB
Kizer finished 8 of 13 for 74 yards and scored on a 1-yard sneak in the Browns' 10-6 win over the Giants on Monday.

Analysis: Kizer came into the game seemingly behind Brock Osweiler in the Browns' QB competition, but given Osweiler's underwhelming performance, this could be a race to the finish.
8/22/2017 Brock Osweiler, Cle, QB
Osweiler went 6 of 8 for 25 yards and threw an interception while playing two series in the Browns' 10-6 win over the Giants on Monday.

Analysis: Osweiler still appears to be the favorite to win the starting QB job, though this performance hardly backed up that possibility.
8/21/2017 Odell Beckham Jr., NYG, WR
Beckham Jr. left Monday night's game in Cleveland with a sprained ankle Beckham caught an 18-yard pass and immediately had his legs cut out by Browns cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun, who drove his shoulder in the wide receiver's left leg. Beckham popped up, ripped off his helmet and slammed it in frustration. After taking a knee, he walked off slowly and glared menacingly at Cleveland's defensive huddle.

Analysis: Beckham spent a few minutes on the bench before heading to the locker room. TV cameras captured him dropping to his knees on the floor. The Giants said Beckham sustained a sprained ankle. He was also checked and cleared for a concussion. Beckham caught 101 passes and scored 10 touchdowns last season. He's entering his fourth season. He has 288 career receptions for 4,122 yards and 35 TDs.
8/21/2017 Leonard Fournette, Jax, RB
Fournette will sit out Thursday's preseason game against Carolina due to a lingering foot injury.

Analysis: The 2017 No. 4 overall pick also missed last week's game against Tampa Bay after getting nine carries in the preseason opener. Fournette's absence is considered precautionary, though, and all indications are that the rookie will be ready come Week 1.
8/21/2017 Dante Fowler Jr., Jax, DE
Fowler has been formally charged on three misdemeanor crimes in Pinellas County, Fla., according to court records.

Analysis: Fowler was arrested on July 19 and charged with simple battery, criminal mischief and petit theft. His arraignment in Clearwater, Fla., is scheduled for Sept. 11 - one day after the Jaguars' regular-season opener against the Texans. If convicted on all counts, Fowler could face up to a year in jail and is subject to league discipline.
8/21/2017 Trevor Siemian, Den, QB
Siemian has won the Broncos' starting quarterback battle over 2016 first-rounder Paxton Lynch.

Analysis: This news comes two days after Siemian outperformed Lynch in Denver's second preseason game. Coach Vance Joseph not needing to see how Siemian and Lynch played in the usually all-important third preseason game seems to say a lot. Siemian may not be the best fantasy option out there, but he could be a sleeper after averaging nearly 243 yards passing in 14 games last season.
8/20/2017 Marcus Mariota, Ten, QB
Mariota threw a touchdown pass and the Titans edged the Panthers 34-27 on Saturday.

Analysis: Mariota, who finished 6 of 8 for 61 yards and one touchdown, completed a 20-yard pass to rookie receiver Taywan Taylor and then added a 9-yard run on the first two plays of the game. "I thought we came out fast, made a couple of big plays, were able to go down and score," the QB said.
8/20/2017 Trevor Siemian, Den, QB
Siemian, who started the preseason opener a week ago, came off the bench to throw a touchdown pass as the Broncos beat the San Francisco 49ers 33-14 on Saturday night.

Analysis: It's still tough to say if Siemian or Paxton Lynch will be the Broncos' starter. Neither has done much to distinguish himself.
8/20/2017 Paxton Lynch, Den, QB
Lynch was 9 of 13 and showed good pocket presence by scrambling out of trouble a few times, but managed only 39 yards through the air in less than two quarters in the Broncos' preseason win over the 49ers.

Analysis: It's still tough to say if Lynch or Trevor Siemian will be the Broncos' starter. Neither has done much to distinguish himself.
8/20/2017 Cooper Kupp, LAR, WR
Kupp caught six passes for 70 yards and a TD while playing with the starters in the Rams' preseason win over the Raiders.

Analysis: Kupp is showing he's more than capable of making the transition from FCS to the NFL. Kupp, who set FCS records at Eastern Washington with 428 catches for 6,464 yards and 73 TDs, could be a fantasy sleeper.
8/20/2017 Jared Goff, LAR, QB
Goff finished 16 for 20 for 160 yards, leading another TD drive that was capped by Todd Gurley's 2-yard run and a field goal drive late in the first half as the Rams beat the Raiders on Saturday.

Analysis: It's only the preseason, but Goff has looked pretty good so far - certainly a vast improvement over his awful rookie year.
8/20/2017 Tarik Cohen, Chi, RB
Cohen carried 11 times for 77 yards in the Bears' preseason win over the Cardinals.

Analysis: The 5-foot-6, 181-pound fourth-round pick out of North Carolina A&T started with Jordan Howard and Jeremy Langford out with injuries and impressed. "That's the mainstay of my game, being a speedy back with a low center of gravity," Cohen said, "so I'm hard to tackle."
